Quill Bills Raises $3.2M to Automate Medical Billing
Today we're announcing that Quill Bills has raised $3.2M to build the autonomous billing platform that independent medical practices deserve.
Why We Started Quill
Medical billing is broken — not because the people doing it are bad at their jobs, but because the job itself is unreasonable. Independent practices are expected to navigate thousands of payer-specific rules, track claims across dozens of portals, and catch errors that cost them real money — all with small teams and fragmented tools.
The result is predictable: the average practice loses 10 to 15 percent of earned revenue to preventable billing failures. Denied claims go unworked. Underpayments slip through. Filing deadlines pass quietly. The practices that can least afford to leave money on the table are the ones most likely to do so.
We started Quill because we believe this work shouldn't require heroics. It should require good software.
What We're Building
Quill is an autonomous practice management system that handles the full revenue cycle — from eligibility verification through patient collection. Rather than giving billing teams another dashboard to manage, Quill does the work itself: constructing claims, scrubbing them against payer-specific rule sets, resolving rejections, working denials, posting payments, and following up on outstanding balances.
The goal isn't to replace billing teams. It's to free them from the repetitive, rules-based work that consumes most of their day so they can focus on the exceptions that actually require human judgment.
What This Funding Means
This $3.2M raise lets us accelerate in three areas:
Deeper payer intelligence. Every payer has its own edit rules, submission quirks, and adjudication patterns. We're investing in building the most comprehensive payer rule engine in the industry so that claims are right before they're submitted — not corrected after they're denied.
Faster automation coverage. We're expanding the set of billing workflows Quill handles autonomously, with a focus on denial management, prior authorization, and patient collections — the stages where practices lose the most time and revenue.
More practice integrations. Independent practices use a wide range of EHR and practice management systems. We're building integrations that let Quill plug into existing workflows without requiring practices to rip and replace their current stack.
The Road Ahead
We're still early. The healthcare billing system is enormous, complex, and resistant to change — but that's exactly why it needs better tools. Every independent practice that switches from reactive billing to proactive, automated revenue cycle management is a practice that collects more of what it earns and spends less time fighting with paperwork.
If you run an independent practice and want to see what autonomous billing looks like, request a demo. We'd love to show you what we're building.
To the investors, advisors, and early customers who made this possible — thank you. We're just getting started.
